I teach foreign languages using the philosophy of 'language in practice'. I believe that the teacher should know all of the grammatical theory but should be able to deliver it in such a way that the student knows the language in a far more practical than theoretical manner. This means that he will be able to actually communicate with native speakers rather than just recite verb forms and the like. The theory can be explained once the basics have already been covered.
