I am an experienced tutor based in London UK, specialising in teaching critical thinking to all ages. I studied History at Cambridge, and have a Master's from Oxford in Early Modern History, and was a scholar as well as a cox for the university men's lightweight rowing club. My high-level academic experience across 3 Oxbridge faculties - History, Classics and Modern and Medieval Languages - means I put a lot of emphasis on a holistic approach, using a mix literature, art, film and language in classes.
I have taught in Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China for a number of years but welcome pupils from all over the world. I am a History and English specialist, and teach these subjects up to university level, but I cover all subjects up to GCSE (~age 16) and History, English, Latin and Politics up to A Level/IB (~age 18). I
focus on work with gifted and talented students who need more of a challenge than schools are able to give, but I am very happy to take pupils of all needs and abilities. I put a lot of emphasis on critical thinking and analysis, equipping the student with the academic tools to critically analyse information, sources and literature without being spoon-fed. I treat every pupil as an individual - I spend time getting to know them, and tailor my teaching towards their needs and requirements. Educational access is hugely important to me so I offer very low fees for students from a low economic background. Please contact to arrange.
